Last August I wrote about Blinklist, a social bookmark manager. Well, I’m still using it, and I think it’s a keeper. They haven’t stood still since I mentioned them last, and have made some nice improvements.
I’ve been looking for a nice bookmark manager for years, starting with the the old Visto site (which no longer exists) around 1997 and Yahoo bookmark manager circa 1998. To date, Blinklist is the best I’ve tried. I use it in two main ways:
- To manage sites I think are worth remembering - the original reason for using a manager like this, and
- To manage lists of sites to share on this blog and with friends via RSS, for instance I had a friend that needed a list of good space sites to pass along to a budding middle school scientist and an RSS feed proved to be a nice way to do that.
One thing that I like about Blinklist is the interface. I just passed 100 “blinks”, not a lot, but definitely a chore to manage. The Web 2.0 style interface elements, like the tag cloud, really make it a easy to manage a large number of sites.
