As I mentioned earlier this month, there was a total Lunar Eclipse this morning for people in Western North America. I was running a bit late, but did get to see some of it - including totality.
Although it wasn’t the “dreamy shade of sunset red” that NASA’s Spaceweather site talked about (it had a slight reddish tint to it), it was very nice. Also nice was Mars in the Eastern sky with the Sun chasing it but still below the horizon.
To tie both Astronomy and GIS together, there is a nice interactive map on Spaceweather.com showing some photos taken during the eclipse.
