From NASA’s Science News comes this reminder about the upcoming transit by Mercury:
The transit begins at 2:12 pm EST (11:12 am PST) and lasts for almost five hours. Good views can be had from the Americas, Hawaii, Australia and all along the Pacific Rim

A Better Asteroid Movie

Here’s a better quicktime movie of my asteroid from the other night.
As with the other images I’ve shown, the images here were taken using an SBIG STL-6303e CCD attached to a Meade 16″ LX-200. The exposures are 90 seconds long with 8.5 minutes between exposures.
